On The Move: To The Ends Of The Earth

Throughout this series, On the Move, we've explored a simple but powerful truth: the Church was never meant to stand still.

Jesus didn't call His followers to gather once a week and then return to life unchanged. He called us to be people on mission—people who actively participate in God's work in our neighborhoods, our communities, and ultimately around the world.

As we conclude this series, we're asking one final question:

What does it look like for the Church to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth?

God's Heart Has Always Been for the World

Many of us naturally view the world through the lens of our own experiences. Pastor Mark shared how his perspective changed forever when he traveled to Honduras as a young optometrist.

Growing up in a rural Midwest community, he assumed most people lived similarly to the way he did. But seeing extreme poverty firsthand opened his eyes to a reality he had never known existed. More importantly, it opened his heart to God's heart for the nations.

When God expands our view of the world, He often expands our hearts along with it.

Scripture makes it clear that God's love extends far beyond our own communities, cultures, and countries. He loves every nation, every tribe, and every people group. His desire is that all people would come to know Him.

That's why, before returning to heaven, Jesus gave His followers a mission:

"Go and make disciples of all nations."

He also gave them a strategy:

"You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1:8)

The mission starts where we are, but it never stops there.

Every Believer Has a Part to Play

Sometimes we think global missions are only for pastors, missionaries, or people with special callings. But the truth is that Jesus gave His mission to every believer.

Every follower of Christ has a role in helping others experience His love and salvation.

At Landing Place Church, we believe there are three primary ways believers participate in God's mission:

1. Pray

Before Jesus told His disciples to go, He told them to pray.

Prayer is where mission begins because prayer aligns our hearts with God's heart.

When we pray for missionaries, unreached people groups, church planters, sponsored children, and communities around the world, we become connected to what God is doing globally.

The beautiful thing about prayer is that everyone can participate.

You don't need a passport.
You don't need special training.
You don't need financial resources.

You simply need a willing heart.

Prayer may seem small, but it is one of the most powerful ways we can engage in God's mission.

2. Give

Many of us don't consider ourselves wealthy. It's easy to compare ourselves to people who have more than we do.

Yet from a global perspective, most Americans live among the wealthiest people in the world.

The question isn't whether we've been blessed.

The question is what we will do with those blessings.

The Apostle Paul encouraged believers to be generous and willing to share, using their resources to make an eternal impact.

At Landing Place Church, generosity fuels mission. Through local outreach efforts, Compassion International partnerships, global ministries, disaster relief organizations, and missionaries serving around the world, every gift helps advance the Gospel beyond our walls.

Last year alone, Landing Place gave more than $200,000 toward outreach and missions initiatives.

Every act of generosity becomes part of a much larger story of lives being changed through Jesus.

3. Go

While not everyone is called to become a full-time missionary, some people are called to go.

Others are invited to participate through short-term mission experiences that can profoundly change the way they see God, the world, and themselves.

One of the most powerful moments from the message came through the testimony of Isaiah Archeletta, who joined a Landing Place team in Budapest, Hungary.

What began as his first international mission trip became a life-changing encounter with God.

While serving in orphanages and worshiping alongside Roma believers, Isaiah experienced God's presence in a fresh way and sensed a deeper calling to live on mission for Christ.

His story serves as a reminder that mission trips aren't about being heroes who rescue others.

They're about stepping into what God is already doing and allowing Him to transform us in the process.

Often, we arrive thinking we have something to give and leave realizing we've received far more than we could ever offer.

A Church That Stays on the Move

At Landing Place, our desire isn't simply to gather on Sundays.

We want to be a church that embraces the mission Jesus gave us.

A church that serves locally.
A church that cares globally.
A church that prays boldly.
A church that gives generously.
A church that goes willingly.

Whether God calls you to pray, give, or go, He has a role for you in His mission.

The invitation is simple:

Ask God what your next step is.

As we continue moving forward together, may we never lose sight of the fact that God's heart is for the world—and He invites us to join Him in reaching it.

Because the Church was never meant to stand still.
